Waterfront

Shelter Island Yacht Club’s waterfront facilities provide easy access for members, guests and visitors to Dering Harbor and the Long Island Sound.

To request a mooring or for more information, hail VHF 74 or call (631) 749-0888.

Facilities include:

  1. A limited number of moorings for visiting yachts from clubs with reciprocity
  2. Floating docks in front of the Club for members' and visitors' dinghies, and short-term tie-ups.
  3. Two boat launch ramps
  4. An electric hoist for dry sailing and launching boats
  5. Gin pole for stepping masts
  6. 160’ pier for short-term tie-ups for larger vessels
  7. Yard and waterfront facilities are available for regatta participants
  8. Heads and Showers located in the Junior Clubhouse


In addition, for our Members, we provide:

  1. Seasonal moorings in the large and small grids
  2. Boat slips
  3. Use of the Main Dock for short-term tie-ups
  4. Bulkheads and floating docks behind the Junior Sailing Club*
  5. Dry Sail area
  6. Junior Sailing Facilities


*One-design fleets and the Junior Sailing Program take priority
