PHRF Racing

Members and Non-Members Welcome

SIYC has a long history of Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) racing. Many of our yachts have competed on the Eastern seaboard in a variety of regattas, including the Off Soundings Series, Block Island Race Week, Brooklyn Ocean Race, The Whitebread, The Newport to Bermuda Race, NYYC Annual Regatta, and NYYC Race Week. SIYC hosts three PHRF races each summer: the Heatherton Trophy Race, SIYC Race Week and The Edmund Ward Poor Memorial Race. PHRF racing is open to both SIYC members and non-members. Each race typically has several divisions which encompass both cruising (non-spinnaker) and spinnaker classes. A competitors party will be held immediately after racing on the SIYC South deck. All boats must have a current PHRF certificate (see link to PHRF facts), register online at Yacht Scoring and be at the race start at the proper time and place.

For more information contact the SIYC Race Committee or PHRF Chairperson, Andrew Ward.
