WELCOME ~ TO THE SHELTER ISLAND YACHT CLUB
We extend to Skipper and Crew a cordial welcome to Shelter Island and
the facilities of the Shelter Island Yacht Club.
Facilities of SIYC shall be extended to visiting yachtsmen who are
members of recognized yacht clubs for a period not to exceed one week
and they shall register and apply for a Guest Card. An extended stay
(longer than three days) shall only be offered said visiting yachtsman
once per season and, in any event, a visit of any duration shall not be
permitted more frequently than once per month. Check out time is noon.
A facility use fee of $60 per day is charged for each visiting yacht.
SIYC accepts VISA, MasterCard, or American Express as the only means of
payment.
SERVICES
Arriving Yachts should hail the Shelter Island Yacht Club on Channel 74
when approaching the island for information on availability.
Launch service is available by calling on Channel 74 VHF or by sounding
three blasts and displaying "T" flag.
Dinghies may land on the inland side of the southwest floating docks.
Ice is available at the Office or Bar.
DINING ROOM AND BAR
Shelter Island Yacht Club offers full luncheon, dinner and bar service
in our warm and friendly dining room. We also offer a snack bar for
light and casual dining.
Please see the Clubhouse for information, menus and special events.
Reservations are suggested for weekdays and are required for weekend
dining.
DINING ATTIRE
LUNCHEON: shorts or slacks with collared shirts or blouses
DINNER: Saturdays - jackets and ties for gentlemen with corresponding
attire for ladies Other evenings - casually elegant attire is accepted.
GENERAL ATTIRE footwear appropriate to a yacht club is expected at all
times (no flip-flops). No tee shirts or cut-offs are allowed in the
club at any time. Denim items are only allowed during lunch hours.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Showers are available for guests on the north side of the Junior Yacht
Club.
Telephones are located inside (near the restrooms) and outside (on the
snack bar deck) of the clubhouse.
Shelter Island has a mandatory recycling law and you will find
containers marked for this purpose on the west side of the clubhouse.
Fuel and a pumpout station are available at Piccozzi's Marina at the
head of the harbor.
MISCELLANEOUS
Shelter Island has no public transportation, but most services are only
a short, pleasant walk away. The ferry to Greenport is only a 10 minute
walk from the Clubhouse.
The Shelter Island Chamber of Commerce offers a complimentary map
listing business and points of interest to make your stay more
enjoyable. These are available for you at the Clubhouse registration
desk.
